This year the competition dedicated to electrically assisted bicycles (eMTB) changes radically.

The routes are much more technical and the competition time will be given by accumulating the times from 2 timed special stages.

The start of the first stage will be 10 km from Avrig. The way to the starting point is on the paved road DJ 105F towards Poiana Neamțului. Competitors can get there either by bicycle (recommended as a warm-up), 8 km being on the new bicycle path on the Avrig Valley, or by car. In case they go by car and want to leave it there until later, the parking area is 1 km further.

The first timed stage is almost 7km, it is mostly uphill with a descent of 1.5km at the end steep and very technical. It is the stage that will certainly pose big problems for those who consider that an e-bike is just a mountain bike on which you put less effort :-).

The start of this first stage will be given starting at 10:00, in groups of 4 riders, with a difference of 1 minute. The starting list will be published after the closing of registrations.

An 11 km connecting segment follows, partly on a forestry road, partly on a single track, but overall a segment without any problems for e-bikes. The maximum time you need to spend on this segment is 1 hour. For every extra minute you will be penalized with 10 seconds. Somewhere in the middle of this connection segment you also have a feeding point, a second point being right at the start of the last timed race.

It is important to evaluate the parameters of the entire route and to make a correct battery management, in relation to capacity, weight and your level of preparation.

The second timed stage is just over 14 km long and is mostly downhill. The start is given individually, at least 1 minute apart, depending on the order in which you arrive at the starting point. The route is common with other Triada MTB Avrig races, so it is possible to catch competitors from the Red or Blue routes. Carefully and respectfully manage the situations in which you have to pass.

This race ends with a beautiful descent to the former Mârșa plant where the clock will stop. You will also find a last refreshment point there, and further to the starting area you can follow the route marked by the competition (recommended) or you can leave the route after about 2km and continue on the Mârșa – Avrig bike lane. If you choose the 2nd option, you have the obligation to remove the competition number from the bike.

The entire route, timed stages plus connecting segments, looks like this:

Important information about bicycles:

Only “pedelec” bicycles, bicycles whose electric motor provides assistance only when the user pedals, are accepted. The bikes can be checked at any time and by any method by the organizer. Competitors who refuse to submit to these controls will be disqualified!

Bicycles must comply with the following standards:

  • motor with a maximum continuous power rating of 250 watts
  • Motor assistance up to 25 km/h!!

There are no battery limitations. You can use even more batteries, provided you have them with you throughout the competition. Replacing the battery on the route with one received from the outside leads to disqualification.

Another important rule that we will implement this year is to limit the power of the motors to 750W. All competitors with motors that develop a higher power (e.g. Avinox) have the obligation to limit the power in the application to a maximum of 750W. The procedure is as follows:

  1. Make sure you have your phone that is connected to your bike with you.
  2. Arrive at the PS1 start point at least 30 minutes before your start time.
  3. Together with the designated staff, you will make the appropriate settings in the app.
  4. The device remains in our custody and you will recover it at the end of the PS2.
  5. The display on the frame will also be sealed by us with a transparent film.
