We entered in a straight line with the preparations for the Avrig Mountain Bike Race with less than a month to start.
Emotions will be tripled this year for competitors. That’s because each participant will have 3 starts during the 2 days of the competition. On Saturday morning we will have a time trial (XCT) where each competitor will go through a timed tour on the Cross Country Short Track arranged in the Brukenthal Palace area. Such a tour will take about 3 minutes for the fastest competitors. A second start follows on Saturday afternoon in the XCC competition itself, a competition that will last about 25 minutes. And then on Sunday at 10 o’clock the start in the longer races, on the long or short route.
We also thought about those who don’t want or can’t compete on Saturday but want to compete on Sunday. Time penalties will be applied to them but will appear in the overall ranking. Thus:
- does not participate in XCT – his time will be the time made by the last contestant at XCT + 1 minute
- does not participate in XCC – his time will be the time made by the last contestant at XCC + 5 minutes
The route for Saturday will be a mountain bike one as we have accustomed you, but without the obstacles present in previous years at eliminator. So nothing to be scared of for those who are not very skilful on the technical side. Sunday’s trails will undergo only slight changes to bypass some sections that have become impassable.
The start/finish area will move to the brukenthal palace garden with all the points of interest, race office, bike wash, team area, expo area, etc., located near the start line, as handy as possible to the participants. We hope that all those present will spend pleasant moments in this area as well, not only on the competition routes.
