Day 2 of the eMTB Xperience Triad will start strong and very early.
It is a long day, with 4 special tests and a period of relaxation and battery charging.
In the early hours of the morning, the competitors will be transferred to the Olt Valley where the first start will be from a beautiful clearing, one of the first at the base of the Făgăraș Mountains ridge.
Special stage 1 – QUEST – is 10.2 km long, with a difference in level uphill of about 1,120m and downhill of 275m.
It is mostly in the alpine void area, following the main ridge of the Făgăraș Mountains, with the arrival at the monument dedicated to the mountain rescuer Robert Ungureanu.
For the heaviest or least physically prepared, it is also important to follow a battery usage scale given by the organizer in percentages, but in general all competitors should be able to use the maximum power of the bikes throughout the duration.
This is followed by an untimed transfer to the Suru Chalet, on a rather rough route.
This is also the reason why this section is outside the special stages, being a difficult one to ride on a bike.
After a hydration break and a pie we continue with special test 2.
Special stage 2 – SURU DH – is 9.1 km long, is mostly downhill, with an uphill level difference of only 100m, a few small segments, and downhill of 855m.
It will take the competitors down to the Avrig Valley, close to the Triad eMTB Xperience Base Camp.
The next 4 hours are dedicated to charging batteries, Băneasa pasta, Olympus juices and any repairs or settings of the bikes.
Our mechanic friend Sergiu from Bike Alpin is present to give a hand to those in need.
We continue Saturday afternoon with the last 2 special stages of the day, Jungle and Impossible.
Special stage 3 – JUNGLE – 5.3 km, a difference in level uphill of about 390m and downhill of 275m, and the descent is worth all the effort on the climb.
It’s technical and awkward!
Special stage 4 – IMPOSSIBLE – 5.6 km, a difference in level uphill of about 505m and downhill of 485m.
Some climbs of this test will pose some problems for some of the contestants!
A total of 30.2 km kilometers of special stages on Saturday, with 2,115 meters of elevation gain uphill and 1,890 meters downhill.
The connecting seeds between the samples totaled about 12 kilometers.
The day will end with Surmont 30, a dinner, a film screening and a bag of memories, all on the occasion of the 30th anniversary of the organization of the first mountain biking competition in Romania, 1994 – Cisnădioara/Sibiu.
The event is organized by Surmont Club, the organizer at the time, and PlayBike ProCycling Team with the participants of the eMTB Xperience Triad, officials, sponsors but also people who participated in the first mountain bike competitions at that time.
